Sacred Heart University Advancement Video
Today more than half of US households are using high-speed Internet connections, and this percentage is expected to grow to 69 million households in 2008. According to ComScore, a data research firm, more than 94 million people in the US viewed a streaming video online in 2006.
Clearly, the rapid adoption of broadband Internet access is the primary driver of online video. In addition, web-based technologies such as media players, graphic interface design and API's, and social networking sites (Facebook, MySpace), have met and frequently exceeded previous user expectations and online experience. This progress and evolution have enabled an expanding audience to access and use online video for entertainment purposes and to obtain a vast library of personalized and relevant information.
In higher education more and more colleges and universities are offering rich media and interactive marketing communications to reach and impress audiences for institutional, recruitment and advancement purposes. College Admissions departments are producing videos to tell powerful stories intended to attract prospective students, Advancement and Alumni outreach programs are using video to present a rich and compelling impression of the institution to distant groups and stakeholders. Increasingly, a strong video component in the marketing mix is becoming an essential element of the contemporary marketing plan because of video's capacity to harness high impact motion graphics to create a vivid and emotional connection between the institution and its intended audiences.
For Sacred Heart University, Keating Associates has designed and implemented a comprehensive marketing communications program for more than 20-years. In recent years we have incorporated online video to advance the marketing performance and effectiveness of SHU communications for Admissions and Advancement. Notable efforts have included videos for the launch of the Sacred Heart website in 2003 and the design and production of an award-winning video entitled, "Learning 24/7", an interactive presentation of "A Day at Sacred Heart" from several student perspectives.
Most recently, Keating Associates produced a seven-minute video, "A Vision for Sacred Heart", for the Advancement Department to support the exciting academic and capital projects underway at the University. In a series of vignettes President Cernera describes the University's ambitious academic and campus development plans for the next decade. These plans include a new Chapel, new Academic and Library buildings, and important enhancements to the quality of academic and campus life at Sacred Heart.
Keating Associates believes that an integrated marketing program must now include video and interactive media as an important element of the marketing mix. Videos drawn from institutional development, enrollment and recruitment management, capital campaign development and general advancement communications, offer exciting and informative areas for video development.
